Bandar Seri Bagawan, Brunei (August 13-16)

I visited Bandar Seri Bagawan, Brunei Darussalam in August. The country is an oil rich nation where there is no tax and according to what I have heard, school and health care are free. Brunei is ruled by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. The Sultan has a sizable private fortune derived from his total control over the national economy's finances and the appropriation of the state's sizeable oil revenues to bankroll his extravagant lifestyle. At one time he was the richest man in the world.
